F.A.Q.
What is graphic design?
In modern society, the graphics is used to create recognizable images, which are intended to identify the companies, or in general communication. Graphics, better known by the english term "graphic design" is based on a balance between various elements, such as figure-ground relationship, the contrast between full and empty, the combination of positive and negative, the rhythm of lines oppose the use of dynamic lines or dots, etc.. The figurative mark is a concrete form more or less stylized, like the shell of Shell mark or the Michelin man. The mark is an abstract form without reference to particular things but easily recognizable, such as Nike or comma of the three-pointed star of Mercedes. The logo, trademark or written, is formed by the alphabetical letters that make up the brand name like Coca Cola, IBM, etc.. The symbols represent concrete situations or things in a simple and immediately understandable why.
What is offset printing?
Offset printing is based on the pressure of a number of rubber cylinders on the paper, one for each color printing; the roll on which is printed the first color image is then rewound and the next color printed in the correct position; the location takes place through images such registration marks and optical sensors, uses the repulsion between water and fatty substances, including inks to transfer the image from the cliche to the rubber cylinder, which then is transferred to the paper.
What is digital printing?
Digital printing is a generic term to identify a system of printing where the image is generated through electronic processes and printed directly onto the substrate to be printed.
When it is convenient to use the digital printing and when offset printing?
The choice of printing techniques depends on the quality of the print edition that you want to achieve. For large quantities are almost always used offset printing, resulting in extreme definition and high resolution, high quality and durability on all types of paper, with a good degree of color control. As we increase the number of stamped parts, the unit price falls, beacause the plant costs are shared by a number gradually increased. Digital printing is instead used for small quantities. Since there is no fixed cost of installation, the unit price does not decrease significantly with increasing quantities. The quality and degree of color control is certainly less than the offset but the print times are considerably reduced.
What is silkscreen?
Screen printing is a printing technique in which the design, applied to a gauze pad that has a top layer of photoresist, is illuminated by ultraviolet light. The gauze is washed to remove the parts not lit and placed over the object to be printed. The ink on the gauze is pressed on the object to transfer the image. Screen printing is mostly used to customize fabrics and objects. This technique ensures long life for customization, in one or more colors, on flat surfaces and is an excellent compromise between quality and price for high quantities.
What is the digital transfer?
The transfer is a digital printing technique, used primarily in merchandising, which is obtained by first creating an image of the logo on paper that is then applied at high temperatures on the chosen. This technique allows you to customize multiple colors and is an economical solution for small quantities. It is widely used on fabrics and is suitable for playing small details that simply do not record any screen printing, but does not guarantee the same strength and durability.
What is pad printing?
Pad printing is a technique for customizing gadgets, suitable for almost all types of surfaces, shapes and sizes. The design is applied over a metal plate using a photographic process, and is then transferred / printed using a pad (a rubber support). You can print pictures with different shaped pads. The pad allows multi-color printing on any surface, making it easy to customize any object.
What does "embossed" means?
The embossed or stamped is a printing technique where the design is pressed on the product through a die / punch, is a technique that can not be done in colour but the product or simply take the form of printed paper.
What does "doming" means?
The doming is the "bubble" press, or the combination of printing a logo on a sticker on it and the application of a two-part epoxy, which forms a transparent bubble. The resin is transparent as glass and protects the image below, giving a visual effect of "enlargement" and more light. The adhesive can be printed in multiple colors.
What is "embroidery"?
The embroidery is a technique in which the traditional customization logo is sewn on the object. This is a quality work that ensures a high added value and can be applied to both flat and irregular surfaces, particularly suitable for tissues. The price of embroidery is based on the number of points and the size of the logo. A logo or a solid surface with silver or gold wire is certainly more expensive than a logo with many gaps.
What does "hot printing" means?
The hot stamping is an engraving by heating with metallic finish, created by applying a thin layer of metal between the surface to be decorated and the mold. This is a perfect system to create an elegant effect in metallic colours.
What is resin?
The resin is a printing technique used to create a 3D version of the logo: it creates a small mold and then filled with resin which is then made to harden. It's perfect for adding an extra dimension to your message. The logo can be applied to many types of resin materials and on flat surfaces.
What is laser engraving?
Laser engraving is a most accurate technique for customizing that can be performed on various materials. The laser beam is controlled by a computer that allows you to reproduce the design in detail. This customization can not be done in colour, the colour is determined by the colour of the material of the object.
What is a punch?
To die is usually defined as a tool that allows for precise cutting of a sheet produced in "soft" (paper, cardboard, leather, textiles, rubber, plastics, etc.). There are three types of punches: the flat dies (a wooden floor), the punch press (wood bent into a cylinder), and die forged. The flat punch or die is an American instrument consisting of a steel band with a sharper profile than that playing a certain template is used in printing paper and related industries to cut paper, cardboard or similar materials in complex abstract forms. Generally, the die is used to perform the same cuts and precise and is therefore used in other industrial fields as, for example, leather, textiles or the production of labels, to achieve seals, etc.. In the same die can be inserted a plate and lower non-cutting in jargon called "cordon" or "creasing", causing a crush in the appropriate forum and / or strength of the box allowing subsequent fold at that point. In case of materials and special processes the cord is replaced with a blade shorter than the cutoff which would penetrate the box only for part of its thickness (70/90%); in this case is called "mezzotaglio". The die once produced must be plugged into a machine that alternately opening and closing, with the inclusion of the paper to die cut, allows for a complete cut. These machines can be supplied with manual book (Platinum), automatic (platens), flat cylindrical printing (semiautomatic). Depending on the type of machinery and the type of paperboard die cutting production time ranges from 80/100 sheets per hour up to 1000/1200 sheets / h. The same machines described above can have lights and cut up different formats making it possible to produce blanks ranging from the case to the pharmaceutical packaging box. Following the standard formats for the production of cardboard, paper plants, have defined the measures that have been determined in turn the formats of these die-cutting machines (50x70) (70x100) (100x140) (120x160).
